The 2012 National Roller Skating Championships were held in Timaru in the first week of January 2012. Our club had great success with many of our skaters awarded placings in their grades.

I have uploaded a gallery from Saturday's competition at our 2011 Club Championship. I have split the pictures into two galleries of roughly 200 photos in each so far. Click for <Gallery1> or for <Gallery2>. For Sunday's competition I have made a Speed <SpeedGallery>, and artistic <Gallery3>and <Gallery4> and <Gallery5>and <Gallery6> and <Gallery7>. Well done to all competitors, and many thanks to the Judges, officials and comittee members who made the event such a sucess.

Four club members travelled to Brazil in November to the 2011 World Roller Skating Championships. Congratulations to Sarah Jane Jones who reached her goal of placing in the top ten in her event!!!!! Sarah-Jane placed 9th in Senior Ladies Solo Dance. Well done. Congratulations also to Emma Patrick who placed 17th in Junior International Ladies Figures among a field of 33 skaters and Emma Hazelwood who placed 18th in Junior International Solo Dance from a field of 25 skaters. The girls appreciated the assistance of Raewyn Hailes who travelled to Brazil as the team coach.
Learn to skate lessons are held each Tuesday night at 5.30pm at the rink in Goodshed Road. Learn to Speed Skate lessons are held on Wednesday night at 4.00pm at Riverstrone Recreation (next to H2Oxtream). The first Patch class of 2011 will be on Tuesday the 8th of February, and the first Kiwi Speed class on Wednesday the 9th of February. These classes do not run during the school holidays.
